NUEVA YORK.- JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) anunció el día de hoy su nuevo tipo de aeronove, el Airbus A321neo, que ha entrado el itinerario de servicio marcando el principio de un nuevo y emocionante futuro para el consumidor que quiere una flota moderna. Presentando rendimiento de combustible y gama operativa extendida y la mejor para la comodidad del cliente, la aeronave va a beneficiar a los clientes, tripulantes e inversionistas de la aerolínea.
La nueva aeronave oficialmente entró al itinerario de servicio hoy como el vuelo #1 desde el Aeropuerto Internacional de Nueva York John F. Kennedy (JFK) hacia el Aeropuerto Internacional de Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL), cuyo conmemoró la primera ruta de ingresos hace casi 20 años cuando la aerolínea tomo vuelo por primera vez.
El fundador de JetBlue, David Neeleman fue acompañado por Robin Hayes en un evento especial de inauguración en la puerta del Terminal 5 de JFK. Cuando Neeleman juntó a un grupo de veteranos de la aerolínea hace más de 20 años para crear JetBlue, su visión era la de crear una aerolínea de bajo costo que brindaría humanidad de vuelta al viaje aéreo. Esta misma fue una sensación instantánea que revolucionó a la industria. En los años siguientes, JetBlue ha crecido a ser una de las aerolíneas más reconocidas y galardonadas del mundo. Mientras la aerolínea alcanza sus 20 años de servicio, JetBlue invitó a Neeleman a colaborar con el equipo de diseño de la aerolínea para un patrón de diseño brillante y único denominado por “globos”, cuyos incluyen cinco colores distintos de globos, representando los valores que fueron seleccionados por Neeleman y los fundadores de JetBlue mucho antes de que JetBlue tuviera su nombre. Para celebrar la leyenda de Neeleman, la primera aeronave A321neo— número N2002JB— es nombrada en su honor.

La aeronave A321neo presenta interiores de vanguardia diseñados para ofrecer la mejor calidad para los clientes y facilitar una experiencia impecable— la idea que no tienes que parar de vivir tu vida únicamente porque estas en el aire. Todas estas características fueron ejecutadas gracias a los comentarios de los tripulantes y clientes en cómo se podia mejorar la experiencia a bordo de JetBlue. Algunas de las nuevas características disponibles en la aerolínea incluyen:
- New Welcome Area: The NEO features a completely re-designed welcome area outfitted with residential finishes, full-height edge-lit partitions, and custom flooring designed to create a striking first impression.
- Enhanced Boarding Experience: Sky blue mood lighting and uplifting boarding music will create a laid-back and fun ambiance as Customers make their way onto the aircraft.
- Brand New Seats: JetBlue’s stylish new seats were designed to maximize comfort with enhanced memory foam cushions, adjustable headrests and more living space. They’re also the widest seats on the market and offer the most legroom in coach (a).
- Redesigned Seatback Pockets: With feedback from customers and crewmembers, JetBlue reinvented the seatback pocket with an elastic “gadget panel” stowage, mesh pockets for water bottles or personal devices and a larger pocket for laptops
- Easy to Reach Power: With a USB in each seatback monitor and re-positioned AC power ports located in front of each seat, travelers can relax knowing they will arrive with a full charge across all devices.
- All New: The Pantry®: The Pantry has been completely reinvented and will serve as a gathering place onboard to stretch your legs and grab a refreshment or some extra snacks throughout the flight.
- Cutting-Edge HD Seatback Screens: With 100+ channels of DIRECTV, hundreds of movies, full seasons of binge-worthy TV shows, and custom seatback games, JetBlue customers will never be bored. Plus, travelers can follow their flight on a new 3D moving map and pair a personal device with the seatbacks to use as a remote.
- Expanded Fly-Fi® Coverage: JetBlue is the only airline to offer free high speed Wi-Fi on every plane, and now the airline has expanded coverage on our newest aircraft to cover more than 99% of our route network, including over water and international cities (b).
The A321neo – the newest aircraft type to join JetBlue’s growing fleet of more than 250 aircraft – boasts a 20% increase in fuel efficiency which results in an extended range of some 500 nautical miles. While the A321neo will operate throughout JetBlue’s existing network, the extended flying capabilities of the aircraft open up a host of new markets which the airline’s existing fleet could not serve with nonstop flights, including new service from New York JFK to Guayaquil, Ecuador beginning Dec. 5th, and new service from New York JFK to Georgetown, Guyana, beginning April. 1.
Additionally, each JetBlue Airbus A321neo will be powered by two Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, which produce a smaller noise footprint and lower operating costs when compared with today’s engines.
JetBlue has 85 A321neo aircraft on order including 13 A321LR (Long Range) aircraft for service to London from New York and Boston beginning 2021, as well as an additional 13 A321XLR (Xtra Long Range) aircraft which the airline is evaluating for use to serve a variety of European cities.
